🌍 Know before you go

🛂 Entry requirements: If you are travelling from an EU / Schengen country, you can enter Greece with your national ID card or passport.

However, if you are travelling from outside these areas (from the UK, for example), you will need your passport and must go through border control. Your passport must meet the following Schengen area entry requirements:
➡️ Valid for at least 3 months after the date you intend to leave the EU
and
➡️ Issued within the last 10 years

By air 🛬

Athens International Airport (ATH) is Greece’s major international airport, located approximately 35km east of Athens city centre and approximately 33km from the stadium. There are plenty of direct flights from destinations across Europe.

🚇 Getting around Athens

Athens public transport 💳

You can use all means of public transport using the ATH.ENA card or ticket. The price of a regular 90-minute unlimited travel ticket costs €1.20 with multi-ticket offers available.
Additionally, the 3-day tourist ticket (including 1 two-way ticket to the airport) costs €20.00.

By metro 🚇

The metro system consists of three lines and is the fastest way to get around the city. Metro line 3 connects the airport to Syntagma Square in the city centre with a journey time of 50 minutes.

⚠️ Airport transfers must be purchased separately to standard 90-minute ticket costing €1.20. A one-way ticket costs €9 and return tickets are €16.

Line 1 is a mainly overground trainline running from the north of the city, past AEK Arena (station: Perissós), through the city centre (stations: Omonia, Monastiraki and Thissio) and terminating at the port of Piraeus. Line 1 also connects to lines 2 and 3 in the city centre.

For direct travel from the airport to the stadium, take the Suburban Rail Line A1, transfer to Metro Line 1 at Neratziotissa and disembark at Perissós then walk.

By bus / trolleybus 🚌

The city has an extensive bus and trolleybus network. Most routes run daily between 05:00 and midnight but check the timetable for any routes you plan to take.

Additionally, the X95 bus from the airport to Syntagma square operates 24 hours a day. The journey time is approximately 60 minutes. Buses pick up from the arrivals levels and drop off on the departures level. A one-way ticket costs €5.50.

By taxi 🚕

Official licensed taxis can be identified by their bright yellow colour and a “TAXI” sign on the roof, which illuminates when available. All taxis have meters, with fares charged per kilometre and per hour – make sure the meter is on as soon as you start your journey! When arriving at Athens airport, leave arrivals through Exit 3 where you will find the taxi rank.

Popular app-based taxi services also operate in the city.

🏟️ Getting to the stadium

🚨 Important – Do not travel to the stadium without a match ticket.

No tickets will be available to purchase at the stadium. Do not travel to the stadium on matchday without a valid match ticket as you will not be able to access the stadium or any facilities in the area.

🚇 By Metro

➡️ From Athens International Airport

🧭 Recommended route via city centre
1️⃣ Take Metro line M3 to Monastiraki station
2️⃣ Transfer onto the M1 heading north to Perissós station
3️⃣ Exit the station and walk to the stadium. Follow the directional signage to the gate on your ticket (approximately 1km)
⏱️ Approx. 80 minutes

🧭 Recommended route via suburban rail

1️⃣ Take suburban train A1 to Neratziotissa station
2️⃣ Transfer to Neratziotissa metro station then take the Metro line 1 southbound to Perissós station
3️⃣ Exit the station and walk to the stadium. Follow the directional signage to the gate on your ticket (approximately 1km)

It is not advised to travel to the stadium in a taxi or private vehicle on matchday. There will be considerable traffic restrictions in place in the vicinity of the stadium. No private parking will be available nearby.

It is not advised to travel by scooter to the stadium on matchday. There will be considerable traffic restrictions in place in the vicinity of the stadium. Helmets are not permitted in the stadium in accordance with the stadium rules. No private parking will be available nearby.
