England 4-0 Iceland
England ended their home preparations for September's FIFA Women's World Cup in China in confident fashion with a fine victory against Iceland in Southend.
Arsenal goalscorers
Having brushed aside Northern Ireland in their opening UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ qualifier on Sunday, Hope Powell's team recorded a second 4-0 victory in four days. Arsenal LFC's players were to the fore with the four goals being shared between the UEFA Women's Cup winners Katie Chapman, Rachel Yankey and Kelly Smith.
Chapman double
Yankey gave England the lead on 23 minutes as she arrived at the far post to turn in Chapman's cross. Chapman then went from provider to scorer in first-half added time, forcing the ball in after a goalmouth scramble, before Smith made it 3-0 on 64 minutes when she slotted in after a precision Karen Carney pass. Smith might have scored again moments later but for a fine save from the penalty spot by Thore Helgodottir but England would not be denied a fourth goal with Chapman getting her second with a stunning long-range volley. England start their World Cup campaign against Japan in Shanghai on 11 September.
