FIFA Women's World Cup contenders Norway will travel to next month's Algarve Cup without midfielder Unni Lehn after she was left out of an international squad for the first time in eight years.
Competition for places
Norway coach Bjarne Berntsen has decided to give young players including the uncapped forward Lene Mykjåland a chance to ensure competition for places ahead of September's World Cup in China. "This has been the plan all along," says Berntsen, whose team meet Germany, Denmark and France in the group stage from 7-11 March in Portugal. However, the 29-year-old Lehn was disappointed. "I am surprised," said the SK Trondheims/Ørn player. "My form has been good in recent weeks."
