France are facing a possible early exit from the 2002 FIFA Under-19 Women's World Championship after being beaten 4-0 by Brazil in their final Group B game.

Superior record
The result in Vancouver's Swangard stadiun leaves the French third in their group behind Brazil and Germany, relying on going through to the last eight as one of the two best teams finishing in that position in the three groups. However, England's draw with Australia means they have a superior record to France, who must now rely on both Japan and Nigeria failing to win their games tomorrow.

Treble for Marta
Marta was the star for Brazil, who top Group B and will play Australia in the quarter-finals. The striker claimed a hat-trick, opening the scoring with a 44th-minute free-kick.

Three goals in ten minutes
Brazil's second came on 62 minutes when Cristiane broke through the advanced French defence and shot home, and Marta added another seconds later. Her third came 18 minutes from the end with another free-kick.
