Finland count blessings after Norway win

I think we were quite lucky today. Norway, especially in the first half, were really strong and putting a lot of pressure on us as we tried to get our own possession game going like we played against Sweden.

But our goalkeeper played a fantastic game and I think my players still kept on doing defensively those things that we're quite good at as a team. We know that we don't need too many chances: we have good forwards, so we got maybe one or two chances and scored the goal. That was enough today.

We were expecting high, aggressive pressure and a [Norway] team that wanted to show again that they're a good football team. We knew they had really quick players on the top. We expected they'd come really hard; we didn't expect we'd have such big problems with them but we did.

I haven't thought much about the Germany game yet. My assistant coaches have been watching Germany and analysing their team and we start thinking about that tomorrow. But we all deserve to enjoy this moment and, phew, relax a little.

I think we performed well, played some really attacking football and created a lot of chances. But we don't have a clinical goalscorer in this team. We saw through qualification and friendlies that we have problems scoring goals. So Finland get one, we nil and that's it. We feel we deserved better today.

I think that mentally and physically the players recovered quite well after the Germany game. They were so upset and determined to prove that they could be better. They've been working hard for it so I really feel sorry for them, putting so much energy into the game and playing so well, and recovering so well after the Germany game.

I've been in so many EURO finals; these girls deserve to get into the World Cup but now it's all over for them. Hopefully, half of the squad will be playing in the finals in Norway next year, so that's good.

We have already said [in the team huddle] that we want to finish this tournament in style. I'm sure we'll put a lot of energy into the game and it is Sweden-Norway, you know, neighbours – they're always strong rivals, so for sure we'll see a Norwegian team that really will work hard to beat Sweden.
