Norway bowed out of the UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship on a high note, Synne Jensen scoring twice as they claimed an emphatic 5-0 victory that ended the ambitions of Nordic rivals and title holders Sweden.
Eliminated after back-to-back Group B defeats, Norway coach Jarl Torske set his team up to attack from the outset and their enterprise was rewarded in blistering fashion during an 11-minute spell either side of half-time. By the end of it they had gone from all-square to 3-0, and there was no way back for Sweden, whose misery was compounded by two further goals. Calle Barrling's young charges finish bottom of the section, with Norway third behind Germany and Finland.
Chances were initially few and far between at a warm Stebonheath Park, but Norway always looked the more likely scorers. Their pace, especially out wide, proved difficult to handle and, on 41 minutes, Jensen broke free and slotted the ball past goalkeeper Louise Högrell. Within six minutes of the restart it was 3-0 as first Amalie Eikeland netted from close range when Högrell could only parry the ball into her path, then Jensen registered again with a fine curling effort.
There was no relenting as Norway continued to press, laying a marker for next summer's WU19 finals when they will be hosts. On 69 minutes Andrine Tomter's shot was deflected into her own goal by Högrell and, just before full time in Llanelli, Torske's troops signed off in style with an individual strike from substitute Synne Skinnes Hansen.
