Corradini impressed by Italy's resolve

Despite telling his side not to go full throttle against a Belgium side that had already been knocked out of the UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship, Italy coach Corrado Corradini was impressed by his players' determination to win at all costs. Belgium counterpart Jean-Marie Greven was once again left blaming ruing errors after a second successive 3-1 defeat.

Before the game I told my girls to take it easy to avoid bookings and injuries ahead of the semi-finals but today I realised that it's impossible to slow this group down. Their only interest is to play well, enjoy their football and entertain the crowd. It was another wonderful day. There is plenty of enthusiasm so maybe I was wrong and they were right to give their very best again.

Belgium played very well in the first half. I think they deserved to reach the semi-finals considering how they played here, but they paid for bad mistakes in defence in every game. I was surprised by their approach considering they had nothing to play for but during the interval I understood that my team was very determined to fight back and we played a great second half.

I started with centre-back [Roberta] Filippozzi in attack because I did not have many options. Some of the players needed to rest so I asked who wanted to play up front and she put her hand up. It went well because she scored.

Norway are very strong, especially physically. I think we're better technically so it will be a great game. The only thing that worries me is that my players can be a bit too emotional and I hope they will not feel the pressure of playing a semi-final too much. The game against Norway will bring back memories of the final we won against them in 2008. Let's hope to win again; winning this tournament in Italy would be special.

We played a very good team today. Italy are in the elite of European women's football and I wish them luck for the semi-final. They deserved to win today and they deserved to finish top of the group, but I'll have to watch a video of the goals we conceded yet again because they were funny goals – again.

That has been our main problem throughout the tournament. We received a lot of good feedback for the way we played but then we kept throwing it all away by making silly mistakes. We learned an important lesson during this tournament: if we don't stop conceding these goals it will be impossible to compete at this level.

I would like to thank UEFA and the Italian [Football] Federation for the way this tournament has been organised. It was a great experience for my team.
