Skopje, with a population of around 500,000, lies on the Vardar river and is the capital of and largest city in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. A political, cultural, economic, and academic centre, the city is also the birthplace of former FK Crvena Zvezda favourite Darko Pančev and Mother Teresa.
National Arena Filip II of Macedonia
Capacity: 10,036 (all covered seating)
• Named after an ancient king, father of Alexander the Great, the venue is a redevelopment of the former national arena – the Gradski Stadion.
• Opened on 12 August 2009 when FYROM lost 3-2 to European champions Spain in a friendly.
• Aside from the national team, domestic clubs FK Vardar and FK Rabotnicki play their home games there.
• Will host three group matches, one semi-final and the final.
Železarnica Stadium
Capacity: 1,000 (all covered seats)
• Home to top-flight club FK Metalurg Skopje and second division FK Skopje.
• Will host three group matches.
Boris Trajkovski Stadium
Capacity: 1,800 (all covered seating)
• Named after the former president, who died in a 2004 plane crash.
• Home to third-tier side FK Madžari Solidarnost.
• Will host three group matches.
