Italy coach Corrado Corradini insisted that the the "result is not important" after the 3-0 defeat by Spain, preferring instead to look ahead to Wednesday's semi-final against Sweden. His counterpart, Ignacio Quereda, said the victory against the Group A winners did "not compensate for the losses we have had before", despite his side restoring some pride as they exited the UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship.
Corrado Corradini, Italy coach
Everyone had the chance to play today. However the result is not important. The important match is on Wednesday. This match was a good experience for the younger players in our squad. Spain played very well and deserved to win. For the semi-final, it doesn't matter who we are playing – Sweden, Germany, or any other team. What matters is that we are ready and that everyone is rested so I hope to see all the players fresh on Wednesday.
We beat Sweden in 2007 at the La Manga tournament but our players have changed since then. Spain have a lot of interesting players but it is hard for me to judge them as I didn't play with my strongest team. However, Spain are strong and determined and proved it today. About Norway against Germany, I think it will be a very physical and tight game. The result Germany had against Scotland today shouldn't be taken into account, but I am sure it will be a very nice match.
Ignacio Quereda, Spain coach
This game was an anecdote. We played as I expect to play every match, moving the ball along and moving our opponents. It was a nice and entertaining game but it arrived too late. I'm not happy with our overall performance during the tournament; it is frustratation, the feeling I have. We have the potential of reaching the semi-finals and this win does not compensate for the losses we have had before. Today, our game reached a middle to high level but it's a pity it only arrived for the last game. We should have played like this every game.
We didn't arrive here in the best shape, but this is a good experience for our players. They will gain in experience and maturity and also learn from their mistakes. Most players will stay in the team for the coming year so this gives me optimism. We will have continuity in the coming season and can build on our experience here. I believe the semi-finals here will be very tough games. Norway versus Germany will be physical and keenly contested. As for Italy against Sweden, I believe Italy are an extremely competitive team and Sweden will have to fight a lot to come through. However both matches should be very entertaining.
