Norway must keep pace with Clarke

England forward Jessica Clarke is just "growing and growing in confidence" at this tournament – which could be bad news for semi-final opponents Norway.

Goal wait
The 18-year-old forward was unfortunate not to score in the 1-0 victory over Spain which confirmed her team's pole position in Group B and set up a semi-final against Norway. Clarke now hopes to open her account in Reykjavik on Thursday, after a Spanish arm appeared to block her goalbound strike during Monday's game.

'Go for the win'
"I was a bit unfortunate not to score against Spain so hopefully I'll get one in the semi," she told uefa.com. "I am looking forward to it. It is going to be a challenge – I have never got this far in a competition before – and it is going to be good. We'll find out Norway's strengths and weaknesses and go for the win."

Team effort
The Spain result followed an impressive success against France and a draw with Poland, guaranteeing Mo Marley's squad another week in Iceland. Clarke is "definitely glad to be staying". The Leeds United LFC player said: "We have come a long way and have put a lot preparation into this tournament. It is the highest level I have played at and I just can't wait for the next match. We all work together as a team and we couldn't do it without each other."

'Confidence'
Clarke, together with Ellen White, gave width to an England attack led by centre-forward Natasha Dowie against Spain. The speedy No7 is enjoying the role. "Getting the ball to my feet and taking on players, dribbling – that's my game," she said. "I have always wanted to play for England, I am here starting matches and I am happy. I am growing and growing in confidence."
