Match-winner
Friday's match in Akranes, Iceland, comes two days after France began their campaign with a 1-0 win against Spain. Attacking midfielder Henry made the difference then, scoring the 81st-minute goal which capped an impressive performance from Stéphane Pilard's team.
'Deliverance'
The 17-year-old told uefa.com: "That goal was a sort of deliverance for us because it was vital that we scored and got the win under our belts. I think we deserved it because we caused their defence more problems throughout the game and we got at them a bit more than they did us. It has been a good start for us."
School of excellence
Henry is from Lille but has spent the last three years at the French Football Federation's school of excellence at Clairefontaine. These finals mark the latest stop in her footballing journey. "It does feel special to be playing at a European Championship," she said. "It is a first for a lot of us girls and now we have to build on our good start." England will do well to keep Henry, France's creative fulcrum, quiet – like her hero and namesake, Thierry, she looks well equipped to devastate English defences.
