Stylish win for England

England found form to beat Chinese Taipei 4-0 in the FIFA Under-19 Women's World Championship.

England recovered in style from their opening day 5-1 loss against the United States to beat Chinese Taipei 4-0 in the Canadian-hosted 2002 FIFA Under-19 Women's World Championship in Victoria's Centennial Stadium.

Big win
The Asian representatives had already gone down 5-1 to Australia, and were no match for an English side needing a big win to revive their hopes of making the quarter-finals. It took 20 minutes for England to finally open the scoring, Ellen Maggs producing a right-footed shot on the turn. Six minutes later, it was 2-0 when Leanne Champ beat the offside trap and crossed for Michelle Hickmott to tap in.

Ward double
On 47 minutes, England made it three when Katy Ward pounced on a loose ball to shoot home, and she was unlucky to hit the crossbar from a clever lob on the hour. However, five minutes from the end, Ward did register again- her third of the tournament -when she deflected in a throw from opposing goalkeeper Huang Feng-Chiu.

Australia decider
With Australia beaten 4-0 by the United States in Monday's other game in Group C, England are dead level with the Oceanian team going into their match on Wednesay. A victory for either side would guarantee progress to the last eight, although a draw could be sufficient.
