Article body
Germany ended Sweden's slim qualification hopes with a 1-0 victory in Ångelholm to maintain their perfect record at the top of UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship Group A.
Already through
Germany had already booked their place in the semi-finals with defeats of France and Spain, but Sweden, the hosts, were hoping that success today coupled with the right result in Kävlinge, where the section's other two contenders were playing, would be enough to see them advance.
Goal-shy Sweden
Sweden, who have struggled in front of goal in this competition, hit both the bar and post after the break but Anja Mittag had already put Germany ahead by then and her 19th-minute strike proved enough to separate the sides at the final whistle.
Semi-final showdowns
Silvia Neid's side will tackle the runners-up from Group B in the semi-finals, while France, who defeated Spain 2-1 at the Högalids IP stadium, will meet the winners.
