Poland let emotions flow in victory

This is a great success. Probably nobody expected it. However, I believed in it from the beginning and we succeeded. We've achieved what we were dreaming about since the second round of qualification in the European Championship when we beat such good teams as Norway and Ireland, and drew with Austria. Therefore I was sure that we could win the first match against Belgium, and I even said so in the previous interview. But I also said that today we could win and get the European Championship title.

Our tactics are based above all on disrupting the opponents' game. In the first half, at the beginning we were a bit lost but I quickly corrected the lineup and everything was okay again. We were good in defence and at the same time we had our opportunities to score. From one of them we took the lead but you could say that we could have decided the game in the first half because of those two great chances. But we didn't manage to score, and then the second half was even.

What was so dangerous about Sweden were the set-pieces, the corners, because the girls are great physically. But in the second half we also had our opportunities. So taking the whole match into consideration, our victory is deserved.

The first thought was that there is nothing to be afraid of. We had watched some matches of Sweden so we knew how they would play, who we should be afraid of. Basically we were prepared and we played exactly how we were supposed to.

My first thoughts were tears of joy. Big tears, really. I will remember this for the rest of my life.

I'm certain that Kasia Gozdek's injury was a huge loss for us. I think this match could be dedicated to our boss, the late Miss Irena [Półtorak, their former coach and Polish women's football pioneer who died in January], who I hope is watching us from up there and hopefully is very proud of us and of this great success.
