Things to do in Zürich

• Explore the Old Town (Altstadt). Visit the Grossmünster, and Fraumünster with their famous stained-glass windows, walk down the cobbled streets, soak up the medieval atmosphere and consider a visit to the Swiss National Museum.

• Stroll along Bahnhofstrasse, Zürich's most exclusive and famous shopping destination, or venture into some of the city's hip neighbourhoods; Kreis 4 and 5 are known for their trendy cafés and street art. The city is something of a cultural hub, with great exhibitions at the newly expanded Kunsthaus, plus top theatre and music shows.

• Relax. A cruise on Lake Zürich offers a great opportunity to enjoy stunning views of the Alps as well as a great perspective on the city itself. The waterfront is also home to many of the city's lidos, plus some of its top restaurants. More active visitors can take a train to the top of Uetliberg or Rigiblick for a breathtaking panorama.
