UEFA Women's Champions League: players to watch

A number of the game's biggest established stars as well as several freshly-minted talents are show in the new UEFA Women's Champions League group stage.

We pick some goalkeepers set to star in this week's action.

Laura Benkarth (Bayern)

Letting in just four goals in 20 appearances in Bayern's title win last season, Benkarth kept 16 clean sheets and four more in Europe on the way to the semi-finals. Did not concede in the group stage for 230 minutes and although Lyon did then find a way past her, she will be keen to make amends this week.

Christiane Endler (Lyon)

Helped Paris Saint-Germain end Lyon's European and domestic dominance last season, and promptly snapped up by the dethroned champions to take the place of the loaned-out Sarah Bouhaddi. The Chile No1, who has a huge following in her homeland, is playing a key part in Lyon's bid to reclaim their crowns and Endler so far has only been beaten in the group stage by a freak own goal.

Sandra Paños (Barcelona)

Paños has been in the UEFA Women's Champions League Squad of the Season five times in six seasons and was voted the competition's best last term, a tribute to her consistency as Barcelona have moved from dark horses to Europe's dominant force. Can boast several spectacular runs of clean sheets over recent campaigns.

Barbora Votíková (Paris Saint-Germain)

With Endler off to Lyon, Paris signed Votíková from European regulars Slavia Praha in August, and she has emerged as first choice despite competition from another new arrival, experienced Switzerland keeper Stephanie Labbé, and promising German Charlotte Voll. Also known in the Czech Republic as a YouTuber with half a million subscribers, one of the biggest in that language.
