UEFA Women's Champions League: players to watch on Matchday 3

A number of the game's biggest stars as well as several freshly minted talents are on show in the new UEFA Women's Champions League group stage.

We profile some of the attackers could shine in the third tranche of matches.

Jordyn Huitema (Paris Saint-Germain, forward)

Part of Canada's Olympic gold medal-winning squad, Huitema turned professional with Paris just after her 18th birthday in 2019. The talented all-round forward found a good day to get her first club hat-trick: in the opening 42 minutes of Paris's home UEFA Women's Champions League group game against WFC Kharkiv on Matchday 2. Forms a YouTube-conquering football power couple with her compatriot Alphonso Davies.

Caroline Møller (Real Madrid, forward)

Huitema didn't get the only first-half hat-trick in a 5-0 Group B win on Matchday 2: Møller managed one for Madrid against Breidablik, although she took a comparatively tardy 43 minutes before striking her third. Møller joined Madrid in the summer from Inter, having previously racked up the goals for Fortuna Hjørring in her native Denmark. Powerful in the air or on the ball, she is adept at retaining possession up top and shooting.

Asisat Oshoala (Barcelona, forward)

The player who became the first African to score in a UEFA Women's Champions League final in 2019 was far from a regular starter last season with Jenni Hermoso usually preferred as the spearhead of the forward three in the biggest games. This term, though, new coach Jonatan Giráldez has tended to deploy Oshoala, and she has rewarded that faith by rushing to double figures in the Liga and, having been superb in the opening 4-1 group-stage defeat of her former club Arsenal, opened her account in Barcelona's title defence last time out against HB Køge. Pacy and deadly in front of goal.

Nicole Billa (Hoffenheim, forward)

The Frauen-Bundesliga top scorer roll of honour includes the likes of Heidi Mohr, Inka Grings, Birgit Prinz, Conny Pohlers, Pernille Harder and Ewa Pajor – and Austria forward Billa joined that list last season with the 23 goals that helped Hoffenheim earn a European debut. She scored a crucial first-round winner against Valur and another in the Matchday 1 defeat of HB Køge, not to mention goals against Bayern and Wolfsburg already in the league this term, plus plenty for Austria too.
