Lyon 8-0 Zürich
Holders Lyon had scored 21 goals in their three previous fixtures at the Stade de Lyon, and they managed to up that average after a stellar display. Eugénie Le Sommer opened the scoring with her first of two goals and 2016 UEFA Best Women's Player in Europe Ada Hegerberg hit a 12-minute hat-trick as Lyon established a 6-0 lead at the break, before mustering two late goals to leave the second leg in even less doubt.
Bayern München 4-0 Rossiyanka
Bayern will fancy their chances of progressing beyond the round of 16 for the first time after establishing a healthy first-leg lead against their Russian rivals. Lisa Evans got the ball rolling close to half-time and there was worse to come for Rossiyanka ahead of the break as Nicole Rolser registered in added time, before lively Netherlands forward Vivianne Miedema found the net twice after the interval.
Barcelona 1-0 Twente
Barcelona won both legs 1-0 when they tackled Twente at the same stage last season, and they prevailed by the narrowest of margins once again to set up a tense decider in the Netherlands next Wednesday. Jennifer Hermoso grabbed the only goal of the game on ten minutes and it was a strike of sublime quality, the Spanish international controlling a ball from the left, lifting it over Lenie Onzia and volleying high into the far corner.
Manchester City 1-0 Brøndby
Debutants Manchester City posted a third consecutive victory at this level thanks to an excellent effort from Keira Walsh. With 74 minutes gone, the 19-year-old picked up a Jennifer Beattie pass in midfield and unleashed a wonderful shot from distance that beat Katrine Abel in the Brøndby goal. That came after a number of chances for the English champions, though it was the visitors who threatened late on, Karen Bardsley tipping a Katrine Veje attempt onto the crossbar.
Brescia 0-1 Fortuna Hjørring
Fortuna recorded the only away success of the night to exact revenge for their 1-0 loss to the same opponents in Italy during last season's round of 16. Brazil left-back Tamires made the difference with a powerful effort to cap a counterattack three minutes before the break, and Brescia proved unable to peg the Danish club back despite a number of chances in the second half.
