City impress as Lyon, Wolfsburg, Bayern sail through

• Holders Lyon, Wolfsburg, Bayern, Rosengård, Barcelona all safely into round of 16
• Manchester City hit four in first ever European away game
• BIIK-Kazygurt achieve Kazakhstani first by eliminating Verona
• Slavia recover from two down and Fortuna break Athletic hearts in added time

Zvezda-2005 0-4 Manchester City (agg: 0-6)
English champions City produced a stunning performance in their first ever European away fixture as defenders Jennifer Beattie and Lucy Bronze turned in Kosovare Asllani corners before half-time against a side that had never previously lost at this stage. Beattie was set up for her second by Asllani and then Izzy Christiansen completed the Russian side's first European home loss since the 6-0 defeat by Duisburg in the first leg of the 2009 final. Zvezda will be back next season as Russian runners-up.

Lyon 5-0 Avaldsnes (agg: 10-2)
More than 5,000 fans were at Stade de Lyon to see the European champions make it 21 goals without reply in three UEFA Women's Champions League games at the new arena. Wendie Renard, new signing Dzsenifer Marozsán with a free-kick and Delphine Cascarino were on target before two goals by Eugénie Le Sommer, the first a fine one-touch move involving Claire Lavogez. Having made their European debut, Avaldsnes have already clinched a top-two finish in Norway this year.

Wolfsburg 1-1 Chelsea (agg: 4-1)
Chelsea had hopes of overturning their 3-0 loss at Stamford Bridge last week when Eni Aluko intercepted the ball and scored just before half-time. Karen Carney hit the bar from distance but with ten minutes left Sara Bjork Gunnarsdóttir made certain that last season's runners-up would keep up their bid for a third European title.

Fortuna Hjørring 3-1 Athletic Club (aet, agg: 4-2)
Fortuna emulated Lyon in maintaining their record of getting through this round every season since it was introduced in 2009/10 but they needed a 119th-minute goal from Brazilian defender Tamires to see off the Spanish champions. Nevena Damjanović's free-kick early in the second half put Fortuna ahead on away goals and although Erika Vázquez restored Athletic's aggregate advantage with a neat chip, Camilla Larsen forced extra time with six minutes to go. It seemed pena;lties would be needed but as time ran out, Tamires chased a long Luna Gewitz clearance and calmly beat the Athletic goalkeeper.

Bayern München 4-1 Hibernian (agg: 10-1)
Bayern did the hard work in Edinburgh last week to ensure they would not suffer a second straight round of 32 exit. Tonight Scotland forward Lisa Evans was among the Bayern scorers against her compatriots while Abigail Harrison got a consolation for Hibs, who have already clinched a top-two finish in Scotland ahead of next season's competition.

Rosengård 0-0 Breidablik (agg: 1-0)
Lotta Schelin's eighth-minute goal in the first leg in Iceland proved decisive in the end for the Swedish side. In tough weather contditions, and fresh from a 1-0 weekend loss at Linköping that could have cost them their Damallsvenskan title, Rosengård dominated tonight's encounter, hitting the woodwork three times and having nine shots on target.

Sparta Praha 1-3 Twente (agg: 1-5)
Although an own goal extended Twente's aggregate advantage, Andrea Stašková soon put Sparta back in the tie. However, with 15 minutes left Markéta Ringelováff and Renate Jansen and Jill Roord took advantage to send Twente into the next stage

Slavia Praha 3-2 Apollon (agg: 4-3)
There will be a Czech side in Monday's draw after Kateřina Svitková scored with eight minutes to go to settle a thriller at Eden Stadium. In the first 14 minutes Samantha Witteman scored twice from distance for the Cypriot visitors to leave Slavia needing three goals. But last season's quarter-finalists equalised in the 95th minute in the first leg and by half-time were level on the night through Petra Divišová and Svitková. Apollon had Danai-Eleni Sidira dismissed with nine minutes left and Svitková scored with a free-kick from 25 metres out to condemn Apollon to their sixth round of 32 exit.

Barcelona 2-1 Minsk (agg: 5-2)
Minsk struck first tonight through Nigeria forward Emueje Ogbiagbevha on 51 minutes but a Jenni Hermoso penalty and a first European goal from Brazilian Andressa Alves took last season's quarter-finalists through.

Verona 1-1 BIIK-Kazygurt (agg: 2-4)
BIIK became the first team from Kazakhstan to win a knockout tie in this competition, eliminating former semi-finalists Verona. Gulnara Gabella, who scored twice last week, moved on to seven in the competition this season with her 40th-minute goal direct from a corner kick in an intense first half. Melania Gabbiadini pulled one back from the penalty spot.

Zürich 3-0 Sturm Graz (agg: 9-0)
Sturm's debut campaign is over as the Swiss champions reached the round of 16 for the third time in four seasons. Treble scorer Adriana Leon was the first-leg hero in Austria but today captain Fabienne Humm stood out with two first-half goals, one with each foot, and she only missed out on a 'perfect' hat-trick when she headed against the post with ten minutes to go. Barla Deplazes was also on target from distance.

Brøndby 2-2 St. Pölten (agg: 4-2)
The Austrian side led twice on the night in the second half through Fanni Vágó and Viktoria Pinther only for three-time semi-finalists Brøndby to equalise within six minutes each time through namesakes Simone Boye Sørensen and Nicoline Sørensen
