Chelsea 1-0 Glasgow City
Four days after winning their first league title and completing the English double, Chelsea secured victory on their European debut against last season's quarter-finalists. After an early Chelsea flurry, Glasgow were holding out well but on 39 minutes Fran Kirby picked up the ball 25 metres out and struck a thunderous shot in off the bar. After the break Kirby and Ji So-Yun put great chances over, and Glasgow keeper Lee Alexander did well to save from Millie Bright and substitute Ana Borges. Glasgow's consolation is that they lost away first legs in the rounds of 32 and 16 last season and still went through.

Spartak Subotica 0-0 Wolfsburg
A superb defensive performance from the Serbian champions kept the 2013 and 2014 winners at bay as Wolfsburg began their bid to win back the trophy they lost in the semi-finals to Paris Saint-Germain last term. The visitors spent much of the match camped in the qualifying round winners' penalty box but to no avail.

Medyk Konin 0-6 Olympique Lyonnais
Lyon, champions in 2011 and 2012, have exited in the last two rounds of 16 but kept up their formidable record at this stage, extending it to 13 wins out of 13, with 72 goals scored and one conceded. Agata Tarczyńska did have two opportunities for the Polish side but in-form Ada Hegerberg and summer signing Pauline Bremer both scored twice for Lyon.

Olimpia Cluj 0-6 Paris Saint-Germain
Last season's runners-up got the victory as expected but history was made as new Paris signing Anja Mittag netted twice to move level with Conny Pohlers as all-time UEFA women's club competition top scorer on 48 goals. Cristiane also claimed two, and although Mittag was withdrawn after her second, there was time for Shirley Cruz Traña to make it five before substitute Ouleymata Sarr registered her first European goal.

ZFK Minsk 0-2 Fortuna Hjørring
Nadia Nadim is back at Fortuna after spending the summer with American club Sky Blue FC and the Denmark forward inspired the 2003 runners-up to victory in Belarus. It took 33 minutes for the visitors to take control with Nadim converting a free-kick from 25 metres. Uchechi Sunday so nearly equalised – missing despite getting past goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe – before Nadim's penalty in the 61st minute made it two after she was fouled by Gift Otuwe.
