Paris Saint-Germain hold sway in their UEFA Women's Champions League semi-final tie with VfL Wolfsburg following a 2-0 first-leg win in Germany.

Wolfsburg, missing Nadine Kessler and Lena Goessling through injury, have won the title in the previous two seasons but have their work cut out to make it a hat-trick after Sabrina Delannoy's penalty and Shirley Cruz Traña's effort condemned them to defeat. The only blot on the landscape for the French side was a late red card for substitute Kheira Hamraoui.

It could have turned out differently for the hosts had Martina Müller not spurned an excellent early opening. Paris needed no second warning and were ahead on 12 minutes, Delannoy making no mistake from the spot after Anna Blässe had felled Aurélie Kaci in the area.

Farid Benstiti's team doubled their lead 14 minutes later, Cruz, who was superb throughout, registering with a shot from distance which looped over Wolfsburg goalkeeper Merle Frohms. The holders could find no way past a well-organised Paris defence thereafter and were left to rue Müller's early miss.
