Rolfö rolls Liverpool over, Wolfsburg hold nerve

Holders VfL Wolfsburg had to work hard for a place in the UEFA Women's Champions League round of 16 on a night when Brøndby IF and Linköpings FC, inspired by Fridolina Rolfö, overturned first-leg deficits. UEFA.com's reporting team round up the action.

VfL Wolfsburg 2-1 Stabæk FK (agg: 3-1)
• Wolfsburg were wobbling when, early in the second half, visiting forward Melissa Wiik wiped out Caroline Hansen's 12th-minute opener. However, Norwegian international Hansen − a former Stabæk player − restored order with her second on 84 minutes as Wolfsburg booked a date with 2013/14 quarter-finalists SV Neulengbach.

1. FFC Frankfurt 4-0 FC BIIK-Kazygurt (agg: 6-2)
• Kerstin Garefrekes and Dzsenifer Marozsán struck the woodwork in the first half, the latter's effort rebounding to Célia Šašić, who was brilliantly denied by Oksana Zheleznya. Marozsán found the net with a powerful effort on 40 minutes, though, and turned provider for Garefrekes to double the lead after half-time. Šašić added two more late on, setting up a last-16 showdown with ASD Torres Calcio.

Linköpings FC 3-0 Liverpool LFC (agg: 4-2)
• The visitors retained the English title on Sunday, but tonight belonged to 20-year-old debutant Rolfö, who announced herself by picking out the top corner after 24 minutes. A menace throughout, Rolfö used her predatory instincts to score twice early in the second half and complete a masterful treble.

WFC Zvezda 2005 3-1 Stjarnan (agg: 8-3)
• Linköping now face 2009 runners-up Zvezda 2005, who finished the job with efforts from Lyubov Kipyatkova (not long after Lára Pedersen was sent off), Daryna Apanaschenko and substitute Anastasia Pozdeeva. Stjarnan, who responded through Anna Björk Kristjánsdóttir after Elena Suslova's dismissal, will like BIIK and Liberpool, return in the 2015/16 competition as domestic champions.

Brøndby IF 3-1 Apollon LFC (agg: 3-2aet)
• After Brøndby midfielder Simone Boye Sørensen forced extra time with a towering header, the impressive Lianne Sanderson swung the pendulum back in favour of the Cypriot side. Amalie Grønbæk Thestrup then trimmed the deficit on 104 minutes, and Emma Madsen completed a magnificent turnaround. Brøndby face Gintra Universitetas next.

Bristol Academy WFC 2-1 Raheny United (agg: 6-1)
• Dave Edmondson's side confirmed a glamour tie against FC Barcelona next month, although they had to be patient. Within 15 minutes of the restart Natalia and Angharad James put the result beyond doubt with two well-placed efforts, but Pearl Slattery gave the visiting support something to cheer when she headed in a Rebecca Creagh free-kick on 74 minutes.
