Swedish champions FC Rosengård have appointed assistant Markus Tilly to succeed coach Jonas Eidevall when he leaves on 2 July.
Tilly, 37, has signed an 18-month contract ahead of the departure of Eidevall to join Danish men's club Lyngby BK as assistant to Jack Majgaard Jensen. Former Ängelholm FF player Tilly came to Rosengård – then known as Malmö – in 2012 and last year helped the team to the Swedish title and the UEFA Women's Champions League round of 16, where they lost to eventual winners VfL Wolfsburg.
"It was a pretty obvious decision," Tilly told news agency TT. "It was part of the job description as assistant coach, that if I did well I could be considered for the post of head coach. I'm looking forward to the challenge of continuing to develop what Jonas and I have built."
His charges will enter the UEFA Women's Champions League round of 32 in October, but first they continue their defence of the Swedish championship. Eight games into the season Rosengård are top, three points clear of KIF Örebro DFF, with two fixtures to go before Eidevall moves on.
