Müller and Kessler bask in Wolfsburg win

Martina Müller scored the VfL Wolfsburg winner for the second UEFA Women's Champions League final running, and shared the credit with captain Nadine Kessler for making the goal that sealed a sensational 4-3 defeat of Tyresö FF.

Wolfsburg were 2-0 down at half-time and on the ropes but both Müller and Kessler told UEFA.com that their belief never faltered and that Alexandra Popp pulling one back so quickly in the second half was crucial. Even then they went 3-2 down before the game turned again, Kessler's superb run eventually setting up Müller's 80th-minute clincher, and both reflected on an emotional night.

I am still overwhelmed at the moment. I can't really describe it. All the emotions... I need to let it settle down a bit, but I am over the moon!

[At half-time] we thought about the [semi-final second leg] against Potsdam, when we were able to come back as a team; that gave us some confidence, and it was similar. It was a cross from Anna [Blässe], I went for the near post and Poppy went to the far post, and we scored from a header [to pull it back to 2-1];  that was the same thing against Potsdam. Then I knew that, whatever happens today, nothing could go wrong. It worked out in the end.

At half-time I said that we could do it, just because I was convinced that we could turn things around as a team, and that we could only get stronger. I am so proud of the team, it's incredible.

We knew that Tyresö would start very strongly, and that it wouldn't be an easy game. We had a hard time getting into it, and didn't really get the spaces right, everything was very confused for us. But we managed to turn things around after 45 minutes. The coach found the right words, and we deservedly won in the end.

[For the winner] Nadine [Kessler] managed to get past three players, and she chipped the ball, the ball was free to play for me, and then I tucked it in. But it's a 50-50 goal, 50% Nadine and 50% me. It was awesome!

I am still speechless. After falling behind so badly against such a strong team, it is really difficult to come back. We also had chances in the first half, but we didn't play well.

We never lost our belief, and that was the key. At half-time a lot of players and the coach found the right and clear words, saying what we needed to change, and that we could turn the match around. And with that physical presence we started the second half.

The body language [Popp] showed after scoring, which then transferred to the whole team, it made the whole team feel strong and confident. That really helped us for the rest of the match.

[On then falling 3-2 down] It is something that characterises us. We don't like to think about losing. And having equalised after being 2-0 down, you don't lose your confidence so easily when you fall behind again. It was only one goal, and we always believed in ourselves. And in the last 15 minutes we showed that we wanted to win this final in 90 minutes.

There is no better team, and I am very proud of the way we play, how the girls sacrifice themselves. That is football for me, that is what makes people happy, and that is what it is all about.

It is a great honour [to be player of the match]. I am happy about the award, but I would like to share it with all my team mates, so everybody gets a piece of it. That's what it is all about with our team; we are a strong collective, and everybody gives their contribution. That is what I try to do as well.

Tyresö are a top team, who play great football. They have great individual players, as you could see tonight, for example with Marta. It's just so difficult to defend against her, as well as against Caroline Seger, who is a fantastic midfield player. It was a great match, a lot of fun, and it was very challenging and demanding. We played a fantastic match here tonight for all the TV viewers and fans.
