VfL Wolfsburg will play 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam for a place in the UEFA Women's Champions League final after proving too strong for FC Barcelona.
Leading 3-0 from last weekend's quarter-final first leg in Germany, the holders consolidated their advantage on the stroke of half-time courtesy of captain Nadine Kessler. It was mostly one-way traffic from then on and Martina Müller made it 5-0 on aggregate 16 minutes from time with her seventh goal in five European outings.
Ralf Kellermann's team should arguably have been ahead on 26 minutes when Zsanett Jakabfi misfired after Stephanie Bunte's effort had been clawed away by Laura Rafols. Midfielder Lina Magull then shot narrowly wide shortly before Kessler extinguished any hopes of a Barcelona comeback by heading in Lena Goessling's free-kick.
The Spanish side's response was spirited after the interval, with substitute Carolina Ferez Mendez twice going close from distance. There was no let up from the visitors, however, as Müller rounded off the scoring by turning in Alexandra Popp's pinpoint cross.
