Germany left-back Babett Peter has agreed to join UEFA Women's Champions League title holders VfL Wolfsburg from current Frauen Bundesliga leaders 1. FFC Frankfurt.

The 25-year-old UEFA Women's EURO 2009-winning defender, who recently returned to the Germany squad after a foot injury, will move to Wolfsburg in the summer after agreeing a contract running until summer 2017. Frankfurt currently lie five points clear of third-placed Wolfsburg in the top flight. Peter signed for the three-time European champions in 2012 from 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam, with whom she won the 2010 UEFA Women's Champions League and four Bundesliga crowns.

Wolfsburg coach Ralf Kellermann, whose side play FC Barcelona in the round of 16 on 23 and 30 March, said: "We are very happy to have signed one of the best German defenders. Babett Peter has tremendous experience despite her age. She has proved her class over a long period of time, not only in the Bundesliga but also on the international stage."
