The UEFA Women's Champions League round of 32 has tended to be dominated by the seeded teams away in the first legs.

However, while holders VfL Wolfsburg and former winners Arsenal LFC and Olympique Lyonnais will take big leads back home next week, Tyresö FF triumphed 2-1 against Paris Saint-Germain FC on their debut and several other ties are also too close to call. The remaining four first legs are tomorrow and the round of 16 draw is already made.

Tyresö FF 2-1 Paris Saint-Germain FC
In front of a sell-out 3,327 crowd, this eagerly awaited meeting of the debutant Swedish champions and ambitious French pretenders set up a fascinating return next Wednesday. United States striker Christen Press, who helped former club Göteborg FC to the 2012/13 quarter-finals, opened Tyresö's European account on 22 minutes after a fine pass from Marta on the left. However, Press brought down PSG's Swedish forward Kosovare Asllani in the box and Sabrina Delannoy made it 1-1 from the spot.

Tyresö upped the pressure in the second half and Marta, making her first appearance in Europe since leaving Umeå IK in 2008, hit the post before Press restored the lead after Megan Klingenberg robbed a defender in the 66th minute. PSG were creating little but their returning United States midfielder Tobin Heath hit the crossbar with the last kick of the game.

UPC Tavagnacco 3-2 Fortuna Hjørring
The winners of this tie will meet Tyresö or PSG in next month's round of 16 but they also still have all to play for next week after a lively encounter. Fortuna, finalists in 2003 and having made the round of 16 for the last four years, were two up inside 28 minutes through Florentina Spânu Olar and Janni Arnth. However, the noisy Italian home support were rewarded before the break when Elisa Camporese and Alessia Tuttino levelled and, although the Danish visitors had the better of play in the second half, Maria Zuliani won it within four minutes of her introduction.

Pärnu JK 0-14 VfL Wolfsburg
The holders showed no mercy against the first Estonian side to make it to this stage. Lina Magull claimed four goals and last season's final winning scorer Martina Müller got a hat-trick. Her final two strikes came in the closing three minutes after home goalkeeper Elis Meetua was sent off and, due to all substitutions having been made, replaced by defender Triinu Esken for the penalty from which the former German international made it 13-0. All-time competition top scorer Conny Pohlers had come off the bench at half-time and taken 14 minutes to get a treble, increasing her career European goal tally to 45.

FC Twente 0-4 Olympique Lyonnais
Two-time winners Lyon, aiming for a fifth straight final after losing the title to Wolfsburg last May, were seldom in danger against the BeNe League champions and scored twice in each half, upping the pressure after the break with fine goals from substitute Laëtitia Tonazzi and Lotta Schelin, now fifth in the all-time competition scorers ranking on 34. Élodie Thomis stood out.

WFC CSHVSM-Kairat 1-7 Arsenal LFC
The Kazakhstani champions held out for 31 minutes against a side who have never failed to reach the quarter-finals in their 11 previous entries but once Kim Little scored, Arsenal strode on to victory, also hitting the woodwork three times. Gemma Davison gave an extra boost on the right wing when she was introduced in the second half and her fellow substitute, 18-year-old Freda Ayisi, scored three minutes into her European debut.

R. Standard de Liège 2-2 Glasgow City LFC
With Arsenal the opponents for the winners of this tie, Glasgow twice equalised to raise the possiblity of an Anglo-Scottish encounter. The visitors had two good chances in the first 20 minutes but Standard went ahead against the run of play when Tassa Wullaert set up Vanity Lewerissa. The Belgian side increased in confidence but just before half-time Suzanne Lappin volleyed Glasgow level after Nicola Docherty's cross. In an even second period, Wullaert swiftly restored Standard's lead but Lappin scored again in the 66th minute.

FC Barcelona 0-0 Brøndby IF
Visiting goalkeeper Jenny Olsson made several important saves as two-time semi-finalists Brøndby held Barcelona, who lost at this stage to Arsenal on their debut last season. A Sonia Bermúdez free-kick forced Olsson's first notable stop and Marta Corredera was denied at the near post. Emma Madsen put a great opportunity over the crossbar for Brøndby on 41 minutes after a Kristina Kragh pass had taken a deflection off Melanie Serrano to leave her through on goal. However, Barcelona enjoyed the better of the second half with Sonia seeing a 59th-minute shot touched over by Olsson and putting a low effort wide of the post moments later.

FC Zürich Frauen 2-1 AC Sparta Praha
Brøndby and Barcelona are also little nearer to finding out their last 16 opponents after the third of today's home wins. Zürich were on top early on and Cinzia Zehder broke the deadlock in a quick attack but just before the break Eva Bartoňová exploited a defensive slip to level. However, the Swiss champions kept up the pressure and Rahel Kiwic gave them a deserved win with 24 minutes to go

FSK St. Pölten-Spratzern 2-2 ASD Torres Calcio
Making their debut with Austria having gained a second berth this season, expectations were high at St. Pölten but they were denied victory at the death. Experienced Italian campaigners Torres were on top but Nicole Billa headed the home team in front on 52 minutes though Silvia Fuselli swiftly levelled. Soon after Torres lost Elisa Bartoli to a second yellow card as Spratzern took control and Billa scored again with 20 minutes to go. However, Sabrina Marchese was brought on in the 88th minute and as the game entered added time she equalised with her first touch.

ŽFK Spartak Subotica 2-4 FC Rossiyanka
Serbia's Spartak took an early lead through José Nahi and had a good first 15 minutes but the experienced Russian visitors, quarter-finalists for the last two seasons, soon had control as Natalia Shlyapina and Nompumelelo Nyandeni struck in quick succession. Shlyapina was to complete a hat-trick.

PK-35 Vantaa 0-3 Birmingham City LFC
Inspired by England's Karen Carney, Birmingham dominated in Finland. Melissa Lawley struck before the break and Kirsty Linnett and Kersy Harrop added to the tally for a side beaten at this stage on their debut last year.

Thór/KA 1-2 FK Zorkiy Krasnogorsk
Zorkiy emulated compatriots Rossiyanka and look likely opponents for Birmingham in the round of 16, but could have been behind in Iceland when Katrín Ásbjörnsdóttir headed against the bar. Zorkiy took control with Maria Ruiz setting up goals for Svenlana Tsydikova and Elena Morozova in the first half and they could have got more. Substitute Hafrún Olgeirsdóttir gave the home side some hope with a late goal after a scramble in the box.

All second legs of today's ties next Wednesday except Arsenal, Glasgow and Rossiyanka on Thursday.
