Zorkiy earn Lyon tie as Juvisy, Arsenal prevail

UEFA Women's Champions League debutants FK Zorkiy Krasnogorsk are through to play holders Olympique Lyonnais while Arsenal LFC saw off FC Barcelona to set up a fascinating tie with 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam as six more round of 32 second legs concluded on Thursday. Nine teams earned their passage on Wednesday and the round ends next Thursday when AC Sparta Praha defend a 3-0 lead at home to WFC SFK 2000 Sarajevo.

FK Zorkiy Krasnogorsk 3-1 Stjarnan (agg: 3-1)
Zorkiy earned a last-16 meeting with Lyon after knocking out fellow newcomers Stjarnan. Ukraine striker Vira Dyatel opened the scoring for the home side on 33 minutes and added another early in the second half. Maria Ruiz effectively clinched the tie on the hour though Stjarnan, shorn of  suspended captain Gunnhildur Yrsa Jónsdóttir following her first-leg dismissal, did manage their first European goal through substitute Elva Fridjónsdóttir with 11 minutes left.

Arsenal LFC 4-0 FC Barcelona (agg: 7-0)
Arsenal, fresh from retaining the English title on Sunday, progressed to play fellow former champions Potsdam. Like in the first leg, debutants Barcelona began well and it was level at the break when Kelly Smith was replaced by Jennifer Beattie. The Scotland striker took eight minutes to head Arsenal in front from a free-kick by Rachel Yankey, who then crossed for Kim Little to volley a second. With 12 minutes left Yankey made it a hat-trick of assists, Beattie heading in her centre, and in added time Yankey sent through substitute Ellen White, who was brought down in the box. Beattie scored her third from the spot.

FCF Juvisy Essonne 1-0 FC Zürich Frauen (agg: 2-1)
Having conceded a late Inka Grings goal in Switzerland last week, Juvisy were happy to avoid the same fate at home as they earned an encounter with Norway's Stabæk FK. Juvisy had the better of the play and the key moment came on 69 minutes when Sonya Fuss fouled Julie Machart in the box after she had been sent through by Sandrine Soubeyrand's perfect through ball. Gaëtane Thiney's penalty proved the winner.

VfL Wolfsburg 6-1 RTP Unia Racibórz (agg: 11-2)
Wolfsburg had already effectively wrapped up their debut tie in the first leg, but after a frustrating opening period they fell behind to Agata Tarczyńska's shock strike. In the 45th minute Wolfsburg defender Lena Goessling was replaced by striker Conny Pohlers and before the break she had levelled. Pohlers, who scored twice in the first leg, struck again three minutes into the second half and Wolfsburg cruised home with two Nadine Kessler goals and further strikes for Verena Faisst and Viola Odebrecht. Unia coach Remigiusz Trawiński said: "We wish the game had ended after 45 minutes but you have to play all 90. After the break we just couldn't compete."

Røa Fotball Elite 4-0 BIIK Shymkent (agg: 8-0)
Wolfsburg will face the reigning Norwegian champions, who matched their first-leg score in Kazakhstan. Winger Kine Kvålsvik scored two goals in the last ten minutes, both assisted by Elise Thorsens, an attacker who had previously struck herself and was playing out of position at left-back.

FC Rossiyanka 1-2 ADO Den Haag (agg: 5-3)
It was just as well for the Rossiyanka that they won the first leg comfortably after being caught out late on in the return. Rossiyanka scored first early on through Natalia Shlyapina but in the closing stages Bouchra Moudou and Teresa Noyola ensured ADO bowed out with pride.
