Nobbs hungry for Arsenal final date

It may be the formidable 1. FFC Frankfurt standing in the way of Arsenal LFC and the UEFA Women's Champions League final at Munich's Olympiastadion, but Gunners midfielder Jordan Nobbs is determined to grab "the experience of a lifetime".

Arsenal face Frankfurt at Meadow Park on Sunday before visiting Germany the following Saturday to try and eliminate the competition's only three-time winners. Nobbs joined Arsenal in 2010, three years after their only final appearance – and victory – but is hopeful last season's English treble winners can make it again.

"Everyone knows getting to the final and playing at Munich would just be an experience of a lifetime," Nobbs told UEFA.com. "It will be great so hopefully we will get there."

The 19-year-old has been on fine form in Arsenal's run with goals in all three of their home games so far, including the quarter-final elimination of Göteborg FC. Of Frankfurt, though, Nobbs said: "Because they are a German side, they are always going to be a tough team. But I know some of the Arsenal girls that have played them before and we'll have a bit of experience and knowledge. [Manager Laura Harvey] will have been looking into that too so we'll just hope for the best."

Frankfurt, who knocked Arsenal out in the 2006 semi-finals, have shown an Achilles heel in the tournament this season, losing all of their away games, and the Gunners have a great record at their tight Meadow Park home. "I don't know what it is about Borehamwood but we always have a little bit more comfort and we get the home support there," Nobbs said. "Because we are playing on the pitch a lot we get used to it. It's one of our best opportunities to get into the final of the Champions League if we get a good start at Borehamwood."

On her debut European campaign last year Nobbs suffered a semi-final exit to Olympique Lyonnais, losing 2-0 away and 3-2 at home. "We weren't as in season when we played Lyon," she said. "With us playing at home first this time hopefully we can get a good bit of confidence at Borehamwood and get a really good start. Whereas against Lyon we went away not as prepared, this time we have definitely progressed as a team. With the success we had last year in England that can be major in us getting to the final."

They also have the advantage of the return of 2007 winners Alex Scott and Gemma Davison alongside Kelly Smith, who will miss this tie injured. "Just to know we've got them as part of our team, it's just made a massive difference to the team and strengthened us as a squad," Nobbs said. "They've walked straight in and fitted in straight away, which has been great for the team; pushing everyone, not just the subs, and everyone fighting for their places."
