Three-time European champions 1. FFC Frankfurt have extended coach Sven Kahlert's contract until summer 2013 as they prepare to resume their season.

The 41-year-old has been working at Frankfurt together with assistant Kai Rennich, fitness coach Philipp Dahm and goalkeeping coach André Wachter since 2009, leading them to the 2011 German Cup and back into the UEFA Women's Champions League this term, where they are awaiting FC Malmö in the quarter-finals.

Kahlert, who previously coached at 1. FSV Mainz 05, said: "We are all pleased to continue our work with a 1. FFC Frankfurt team that has outstanding potential. We are really enjoying working with such a high-class squad and feeling the trust of the management and the board. It is a big challenge for us not only to target three trophies this season, but also to hunt for silverware next year as well."

Frankfurt begin their spring campaign at home to 1. FC Lok Leipzig on Sunday, starting third in the Frauen-Bundesliga six points behind leaders 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam, and in April will take on FCR 2001 Duisburg in the German Cup semi-finals. Before that they meet Swedish champions Malmö on 15 and 21 March, having added Germany midfielder Simone Laudehr to their squad but lost defender Ali Kreiger to injury for the rest of the season.
