UEFA Women's Champions League quarter-finalists FCR 2001 Duisburg have parted company with coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg following back-to-back domestic defeats.
A 1-0 loss to 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam last week left Duisburg third in the Frauen-Bundesliga, and their bid for a third straight German Cup ended with a 3-0 reverse against FC Bayern München. A club statement read: "The club hopes to take pressure off the team, so they can approach the upcoming challenges in a relaxed way. In particular, reaching the Champions League semi-finals."
Former German international Voss-Tecklenburg, 43, took the helm in 2008 and led them to victory in the 2009 UEFA Women's Cup as well as the 2009 and 2010 German Cups. Voss-Tecklenburg's assistant Marco Ketelaer, 41, has been appointed as caretaker coach. Duisburg meet Everton in the UEFA Women's Champions League quarter-finals on 17 and 23 March.
