• Getafe CF moved into their current stadium from the Estadio de las Margaritas on 1 January 1998
• The Coliseum Alfonso Pérez was named after the locally-born Spanish international of the time, subsequently famed for his last-gasp winner against Yugoslavia at UEFA EURO 2000, though he never played for Getafe.
• Getafe were a third-tier club when they moved into the stadium but by 2004 were in the top flight.
• On 5 June 2004 the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez staged Spain's UEFA EURO 2004 warm-up against Andorra and on 20 September 2007 the first European competition game was played there, Getafe beating FC Twente 1-0 in a UEFA Cup group match.
• The stadium was awarded the UEFA Women's Champions League final, played on 20 May 2010, the first time Europe's premier female club fixture had been held on a neutral ground.
