FCR 2001 Duisburg midfielder Simone Laudehr is out of the UEFA Women's Cup semi-final against Olympique Lyonnais after suffering a serious shoulder injury.

Surgery
The 22-year old suffered the problem in late October during the 4-0 league win against SC 07 Bad Neuenahr but was able to play in this month's quarter-final elimination of UEFA Women's Cup holders 1. FFC Frankfurt and scored in Saturday's 5-0 defeat of the same opposition in the Frauen-Bundesliga. However, the German international has now opted to undergo surgery and is out for six months, meaning she will not face Lyon on 29/30 March and 5/6 April and her absence is also a blow for her nation's preparations ahead of UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ starting next August.

Coach's comments
"This is very unfortunate, as it will also be difficult for her regarding the European Championship," said Duisburg coach Martina Voss. "We have to accept the bitter facts now. But we have performed strongly without her in the past."
