Arsenal enjoy title success

Arsenal LFC go into the second leg of their UEFA Women's Cup final with Umeå IK on a high after clinching their fourth English league title in a row.

Arsenal LFC will go into the second leg of their UEFA Women's Cup final with Umeå IK on a high after clinching their fourth consecutive English league title.

Unbeaten record
Vic Akers's side, who take a 1-0 advantage into Sunday's home leg against the Swedish champions following Alex Scott's late strike at the weekend, won 5-1 at Chelsea LFC to keep up their record of having won all their league games this season - now numbering 19. Lianne Sanderson and Rachel Yankey struck in the first four minutes at Imber Court, and Katie Chapman made it three on 25 minutes. Natalie Clark pulled on back before the break but Sanderson and Chapman put the result beyond doubt in the second half. Arsenal have an unassailable 17-point lead over Everton LFC and Charlton Athletic WFC, having scored 107 goals and conceded just seven so far this campaign.

Treble chance
Now assured of their place in next season's UEFA Women's Cup regardless of success against Umeå, Arsenal have already lifted the English League Cup this term and can clinch a domestic treble if they defeat Charlton in the FA Women's Cup final on 7 May. Their return against Umeå is on Sunday at 12 noon local time, with more than 2,000 tickets already sold.
