Kolbotn keen to show their worth

Kolbotn IL may have little chance of reaching the UEFA Women's Cup final but the Norwegian champions are determined to recover lost pride against Umeå IK on Sunday.

'Hungry'
Aksel Bergo's team travel to Sweden with a 5-1 deficit from last Saturday's first leg but believe they can pull off a shock in the return. "I think the girls are hungry for a win," said the coach, who has just seen his side reclaim the domestic crown in Norway. "We do have a chance of beating them, even though the match is in Sweden."

Rønning goal
Despite his optimism, Bergo knows his charges are up against it. "We have no chance of reaching the final now," he said, after two goals apiece for Hanna Ljungberg and Marta, and one from Lise Klaveness, had settled matters. "Umeå were stronger than us in every department and fully deserved the win." Kolbotn even drew level on the day when Trine Rønning equalised Ljungberg's early opener.

Too nice
Kolbotn midfielder Solveig Gulbrandsen, star of the show in the quarter-finals when holders 1. FFC Frankurt were eliminated, says her team could have built on that goal but paid the price of showing too much respect to the two-time European champions, who lifted the trophy in 2003 and 2004. "We were much too nice," she said. "They got off lightly. We didn't commit a foul in the entire game, and you have to show more aggression at this level."
