Wezemaal feat
KFC Rapide Wezemaal of Belgium had the best record across the nine groups with 18 goals scored and only one conceded in their three games. Not surprisingly, they were also the only team to produce two players with five strikes each - Femke Maes and Kristel Verelst. Among Wezemaal's second qualifying round opponents are Saestum, and if the Dutch champions failed to service a five-goal scorer, the runners-up in their first-stage group, ŽNK Maksimir of Croatia, at least saw Petra Glavac hit that target.
Tania strikes five
The other five-timer whose side were eliminated is SU 1° Dezembro's Tania Pinto. The Portuguese outfit only found the net in a 7-1 win against Newtownabbey Strikers WFC - but in that game Tania contributed five. Her team came third in Group A3, where Erna Sigurdardottir registered twice for table toppers Breidablik of Iceland against 1° Dezembro - and five altogether. That mark was also matched by RCD Espanyol's Marta Cubi and 1. FC Femina Budapest's Anett Nagy. The second qualifying round is played in mid-September.
