Domestic showdown for rivals

Quarter-final opponents Umeå IK and Djurgården/Älvsjö IF will also meet in the Swedish Cup final on 6 November.

UEFA Women's Cup quarter-final opponents Umeå IK and Djurgården/Älvsjö will go head to head for the fourth time in a fortnight when they play in the Swedish Cup decider on 6 November.

Semi-final victory
Reigning European champions Umeå, looking to win the Swedish Cup for the fourth year running, trailed Hammarby IF 3-1 in their semi-final with 20 minutes to go, but Maria Bergqvist and Malin Moström scored to force extra-time, and Hanna Ljungberg and Marta then struck to seal a 5-3 victory.

Final farewell for coach
Djurgården/Älvsjö, whose coach Thomas Dennerby is to step down at the end of the season to become assistant to Marika Domanski-Lyfors at the helm of the Swedish national side, made the most of two early goals to defeat Malmö FF 3-1, Venus James clinching the win.

League title
By the time of the final the Damallsvenskan will also be decided, with the same two teams in contention. Current title-holders Djurgården/Älvsjö, unbeaten in their 20 fixtures to date, could clinch the league on Saturday with three points at Hammarby. Otherwise, they will need to avoid defeat in their final game - at home to second-placed Umeå.

European meeting
After that match both sides will meet on 27 and 31 October for a place in the UEFA Women's Cup last four. Tournament debutants Djurgården/Älvsjö stage the opening leg, with Umeå - losers in the first final in 2001/02 and winners of the next two - are at home for the return.
