No title
Staab, who is also chairman of the club, agreed to end her eleven-year spell after failing to win a title in an injury-hit season. Frankfurt, who won the inaugural Women's Cup in 2001/02, lost in this season's final to Sweden's Umeå IK - who eliminated them in the 2002/03 last four - and were pipped to the German title, and qualification for Europe, by 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam, who also won the German Cup at their expense.
'Need new ideas'
Former assistants Björn Kliem and Ronny Boretti will take caretaker charge until a successor to Staab can be found. Staab said: "I feel that we need new ideas. The expectations have become so high that I no longer feel that I can live up to them."
'Huge role'
Club manager Siegfried Dietrich said: "Monica Staab is one of the pioneers of women's football and has done a great job for our club in the last eleven years. Ten titles in domestic and European competitions speak for themselves and she played a huge role in making 1. FFC Frankfurt the club it is today."
