1. FFC Frankfurt are on the verge of a place in the UEFA Women's Cup final after today's 2-1 away win against Toulouse FC in their semi-final first leg in France.
Early strike
Frankfurt, favourites to lift the trophy, found themselves a goal behind at the Les 7 Deniers stadium as early as the second minute when Sandrine Rouquet scored with a fine strike to put Toulouse in the driving seat.
Meier on target
The visitors were soon on the attack and wasted several good opportunities before finally equalising through Jennifer Meier just after the half-hour mark. Meier kept a cool head to score after a mistake in the Toulouse defence to level the scores.
Jones winner
Marie-Ange Kramo was a creative dynamo at the heart of the Toulouse midfield but she failed to inspire her side to another goal and the hosts soon found themselves behind. Stephanie Jones was the hero for Frankfurt as her 54th-minute strike proved to be the winning goal in a hard-fought contest.
