Tottenham Hotspur FC winger Andros Townsend has withdrawn from the England squad for the forthcoming UEFA European Under-21 Championship finals and has been replaced by Nathan Redmond.
Townsend will not travel to Israel for the tournament after the English Football Association (FA) initiated disciplinary proceedings against the 21-year-old. Uncapped Birmingham City FC player Redmond helped England to the semi-finals of the 2012 European U19 Championship in Estonia, scoring once in four appearances.
Southampton FC left-back Luke Shaw has also pulled out of Stuart Pearce's 23-man party. The 17-year-old, who has an unspecified injury, has made way for Liverpool FC's Jack Robinson. England open their Group A campaign against Italy on 5 June, with games against Norway and the hosts to follow.
