Coach and player reaction: Denmark 2-0 Serbia

Denmark coach Jess Thorup was impressed with how his players "mobilised" themselves to beat a Serbia side who were left to rue an "expensive lesson".

2015 highlights: Denmark 2-0 Serbia

Jess Thorup, Denmark coach
Of course I'm very pleased. After the last game, against Germany, I was a bit worried about how we would go into this game. The way we mobilised as a team, and the way we played, makes me very happy. I started with four new players and two of those scored tonight, but I think it was a team performance.

We're very happy to be staying in Prague. We look forward to watching the [Group B] games on TV tomorrow night and then look forward to seeing who we're going to play against!

Viktor Fischer, Denmark forward
I thought we played great. We had some problems in the first half, but once we got the first goal things were a little easier. The second half was really great because we started to play the game that we wanted to play, mostly in their half, too. We have tonight to celebrate and have some fun, but from Wednesday, we look ahead to Saturday and then hopefully to the final.

[The main difference tonight] was that we got the goal. Against Germany we had our chances, but we couldn't get through and they stepped up their game to another level – we couldn't keep up with them. That has to be a reminder for us to be at that level from the first second.

Rasmus Falk, Denmark forward
It's a great feeling and a little bit of a surprise [to have won the group]. We're very happy to be here still. It was a hard time after the Germany game as the team was a little bit down. But we believed in ourselves and we believed that we could get a result tonight. We went after a win because we knew we could be out even with a draw.

I hope there's more to come because in the semi-finals anything can happen. I think it could be fun to play Sweden, another Nordic country!

Mladen Dodić, Serbia coach
We were much better than in the last game but it wasn't enough. We made too many mistakes and we were not dangerous enough. The second goal decided the match – we conceded it far too easily. I'm sorry we couldn't replicate our performance against Germany. Denmark were better today, because they scored those two goals. I wish them all the best, may they go far.

We had some good moments in Prague, especially in the first match. The defeat against the Czechs dented our confidence somewhat, which was evident tonight as well. The boys gave their maximum and there is nothing more to say there. We have a lot of offensive players, but we scored just one – albeit beautiful – goal. That is the main reason for our elimination, besides problems in defence. Qualifying for this finals was a success [for us].

Filip Djuričić, Serbia midfielder
This generation was together for 12 years and today it is all over. We prepared as best as possible for this game. We had a difficult result against the Czech Republic, we tried to move on with the best attitude, but it was not enough today. We conceded two easy goals. We gave it our all; I gave 200% even when we were 2-0 down, and so did everyone.

We have been in a difficult group. We started very well but honestly I think our mentality got the better of us and we lost the next two games. This was an expensive lesson. I hope that in the future I will be able to give my best for the senior team.
