The qualifying campaign for the 2015−17 UEFA European Under-21 Championship commences on Thursday with the first of four matches before the end of the month.
While the 2015 finals will take place in the Czech Republic between 17 and 30 June, the road to the 2017 tournament in Poland, the first to feature an expanded field of 12 nations, begins almost three months earlier in Waterford, where the Republic of Ireland host Andorra in Group 2.
Qualification then resumes in June with a further 12 games before it starts in earnest in September, when the sides that competed in the Czech Republic enter the fray.
