Ukraine look set to go into next month's UEFA European Under-21 Championship play-offs after a comfortable defeat of Liechtenstein.
Croatia clinched first place in Group 5 last week but Ukraine are in a strong position to be one of the four best runners-up in the qualifying tournament after following up Friday's 2-0 win against Switzerland with tonight's success. Vladyslav Kulach struck either side of the interval before Simon Zahn's own goal.
The opener arrived when Serhiy Bolbat sent Andriy Totovytskiy free on the left and his cross was turned in by Kulach. Bolbat was involved again just before the hour when he delivered a centre that was headed in by Kulach, and four minutes later Myakushko's cross from the right took a ricochet which Liechtenstein goalkeeper Lorenzo Lo Russo blocked, only for the ball to rebound in off Zahn.
Ukraine will find out for sure if they are in Friday's play-off draw after tomorrow's concluding fixtures in the other groups. The ties are scheduled for 8–14 October.
