Turkey will travel to Sweden for their final Group 7 qualifier with both teams in the hunt for a play-off place after cruising past Malta.
Emrah Başsan struck early in each half to put Abdullah Ercan's charges in control and the gloss was added late on by substitute Muhammet Demir. The result means Sweden and Turkey both have 13 points but, with section leaders Poland two better off, the pair could both miss out on the play-offs with only the group winners guaranteed a berth.
Başsan's cool lob over the onrushing Jurgen Borg broke the deadlock on 11 minutes but Malta should have levelled when Jurgen Pisani went clear only for Turkey goalkeeper Ömer Kahveci to deny him.
Salih Uçan's precise pass was converted emphatically by Başsan on 48 minutes to all but ensure the home side would remain point-less in the group and the visitors added a late third when Demir bundled in after more good work from Uçan.
