The Netherlands eased to their third victory in as many UEFA European Under-21 Championship Group 3 qualifiers thanks partly to Luc Castaignos's hat-trick in a 6-0 dismantling of Georgia in Tbilisi.
The FC Twente forward opened his account on the stroke of half-time after Jean-Paul Boëtius had given the visitors a 14th-minute lead. Castaignos then registered either side of Quincy Promes's quickfire double to cap a dominant display by Albert Stuivenberg's team.
There was an air of inevitability about the result from the moment Boëtius finished coolly from close range. Castaignos exhibited his predatory instincts to double the advantage by snaffling Davit Ubilava's errant back pass, rounding goalkeeper Giorgi Nadiradze and slotting in.
If more than a hint of fortune accompanied the Jong Oranje's third, Promes's sumptuous free-kick on 67 minutes oozed class. The Twente midfielder struck at the back post shortly afterwards and Castaignos completed a flowing move for his hat-trick 12 minutes from time.
