Iceland beat Kazakhstan for fourth straight win

Iceland maintained their winning streak in 2015 UEFA European Under-21 qualifying Group 10, beating Kazakhstan 2-0 in Kopavogur to post a fourth straight victory.

Second-half goals from Arnór Ingvi Traustason (57) and Emil Atlason did the damage, as the home side made the most of their prowess from set piece to put themselves in a promising position at the halfway point of their campaign.

After a relatively uneventful first half, in which fierce winds dictated the quality of football, Iceland came out firing on all cylinders in the second period. They deservedly took the lead through Traustason's close-range effort from Gudmundur Thórarinsson's corner.

Iceland were in control, but only made the points secure with five minutes left, doubling their lead through Atlason at another Thórarinsson corner. Atlason, scorer of a hat-trick in last month's 4-1 victory over Belarus, showed his predatory instincts again. The visitors had trouble scrambling the ball clear and the KR Reykjavík prospect was in the right place at the right time.

Iceland now lead Group 10 with a maximum 12 points after four games. Eyjólfur Sverrisson's charges are yet to play group favourites France, however, with their first meeting on 14 October.
