Medojević warns England of 'different' Serbia

Serbia suffered their first defeat of the qualifying process on Friday yet the blow was far from fatal, and captain Slobodan Medojević is expecting a quite different encounter in their Under-21 play-off decider with England on Tuesday.

A Craig Dawson penalty earned Stuart Pearce's England a 1-0 win at Carrow Road on Friday. The hosts enjoyed the lion's share of possession, and the better chances, but the second leg will be a different story according to Medojević. "When you play at home it's always different from when you play away," the centre-back told UEFA.com, "and we expect a lot of people to come to cheer us on, and I think that will give us a big boost."

The 21-year-old VfL Wolfsburg man was disappointed his team could not take advantage of the few chances that did come their way in Norwich, but is in no doubt Serbia will offer far more of a threat in Krusevac. "We will have more of the ball and create more chances, and therefore have much more opportunity to score goals," he added.

Pearce's team will be ready for the challenge. "It will be a totally different game," the England manager said. "They know they have to come out and play against us, chase the game, they know they have to score at least once. The make-up of the game will be totally different – that's the beauty of it."

Jack Butland did not have a great deal to do in the first leg, and while the goalkeeper is expecting a busier night, he feels his team's attacking talents give them the edge. "You can see they are physical – that's going to be the same over there, and they're going to have the crowd behind them," the Birmingham City FC No1 said. "We're just going to go over there and try and put in the same performance – if we do that, we will score goals."
