Belgium ended UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying Group 8 with a comfortable defeat of Iceland.
With hope of a top-two finish in Group 8 ended by Friday's 3-1 home loss to Norway, Belgium were at least able to exact revenge for the 2-1 defeat in Reykjavik that opened their campaign. That proved to be the only points Iceland managed.
Dominant from the off, Igor Vetokele's hard and low finish on 25 minutes opened the scoring after he was set up by Maxime Lestienne. Iceland were always a threat from fast counters to it was a relief to Belgium when Wannes Van Tricht made it 2-0 with 21 minutes left, pouncing on the rebound when Árni Ólafsson denied Alpaslan Ozturk.
R. Standard de Liège forward Mitshy Batshuayi was then brought on within two minutes made it three after a solo run from the left. Another of those runs set up Vetokele to claim his second in the 89th minute and deep in added time the 18-year-old Batshuayi, who also scored on his Belgium debut on Friday, struck again from the right of the box.
