Greece concluded their UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying campaign with a 1-0 victory against Cyprus.
Both sides were already out of the running for a top-two finish in Group 1 – and a place in the play-offs – but Kostas Tsanas's side finish on a more positive note. Dimitris Diamantakos and Panagiotis Ballas went close to giving Greece the lead but visiting goalkeeper Kyriakos Ioannou faced up to everything that was thrown at him.
It took something special to beat the Cypriot No1, Greece captain Giannis Potouridis lobbing him from his own half on 64 minutes. Pieros Sotiriou and Andreas Pittaras nearly drew Cyprus level but could not find a way through. Greece finish third in the section and Cyprus fifth.
