Gabriel Enache struck twice after the break as Romania moved to within a point of second-placed Slovakia in UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying Group 9.
Emil Săndoi's visitors took the initiative from the off and in the opening minutes captain Mihai Răduţ pulled a ball into the path of Adrian Popa, who drilled narrowly wide. Lucian Ionuț Filip then forced home goalkeeper Pavol Bajza into a good stop.
Romania did not have it all their own way, though, as Karol Mészáros and Róbert Mak both tested David Lazar. The hosts also started the second period the better but were hit on the counterattack as Enache opened the scoring with the Slovakia defence stretched.
Eight minutes later the forward doubled his tally, taking advantage of a defensive mix-up. Slovakia will not have to wait long for their chance to gain revenge, however; the sides meet again on 5 June in Bucharest.
